great article, great info, THNX. great comment about the 240 jean residents, including former OJ, and YES I REMEMBER THEY USE TO HAVE FIREWORKS ON NEW YEARS OR THE 4TH !!
]]>Reading the comments below, very sad to hear Geoff passed away. Got to know him and Blanca over the years. You are right, you don’t get that kind of atmosphere anywhere else!
]]>I forgot one special employee in my previous post, Legendary Vegas performer and employee “The Captain” Lary Glenn Anderson. The heart and soul of Nevada Landing and Goldstrike/Terribles. What an incredible talent. Thanks Captain!!
]]>When they finally caved in (no pun intended), there was no point in going other than a dodgy lobster dinner special. 300 miles from the nearest ocean at a place called Terrible’s? Hard pass.
]]>I don’t think I ever went to “Terribles”, but I did visit Gold Strike a couple times. I think LVA had a buy one, get one free coupon for their buffet, which was fairly decent if I remember correctly. They also had dollar machines that took real coins. The last time I ever played one. It was nice but won’t be missed except as a spur of the moment stop. Now all that’s left is that terribly expensive gas station and tiny casino. Still, RIP the Gold Strike.
]]>Agree on all 3 .
